ABOUT

Abalon believes in a music industry in which artistic development is supported by knowledge, practice and proximity. A sector that creates space for concentration, exchange and growth, and in which artists are given the context to consciously and sustainably shape their own artistic story. Abalon is a space to work without noise, to learn without judgement and to gain insight without anyone taking over your journey. We organise physical camps where people from the music industry come together to work on their own practice and projects. We do this within a clear, defined context where artistic practice, professional experience and sector insight come together. Abalon does not create career paths or steer choices. We build context, not direction. The camps bring together artists, producers, organisers, managers and people with plans for their own label or platform. Everyone starts from what they are already doing. Artists work with their own material, others with ideas, structures or projects they want to explore in more depth. By bringing together different roles, an understanding of each other's position and reality is created. During the camps, participants work on everything needed to make music and place it within a professional context. This includes creation and production, but also collaboration, organisation, communication and presentation. Experienced artists and professionals share their practices through masterclasses, discussions and concrete examples. Not as training or a course, but as a shared experience and reflection. An important part of Abalon is making the music industry more transparent. Participants gain insight into roles, structures and possible career paths, and into what choices can mean in the long term. This is done without advice or guidance, so that everyone can decide for themselves what suits their identity, pace and ambitions. When people come together, conversations arise and sometimes collaborations develop. Sometimes something grows from this, sometimes not. Abalon does not promise deals, releases, visibility or advancement. What emerges comes from the people themselves and from the context in which they meet. The camps are temporary and non-exclusive. Participation is voluntary. Abalon provides the practical framework — such as organisation and meals — so that participants can concentrate on content and creation. Everyone remains responsible for their own work, choices and materials. Existing collaborations or contracts remain unaffected.
